5 School Website Features Every Parent Wants
What is good y'all? John D Saunders here. You know, the vibes in today's video, I'm talking about five distinct things. Every parent is looking for on an educational website that they want to apply their children for, whether it's middle school, high school, university. These are the five things that parents are looking for so that they can go ahead and check out your open house so that they can check out your website and jump into admission.
Let's dive into my computer and I'm going to show you that process.

All right, so let's talk about what parents want out of a website. We had the opportunity to collect feedback from a ton of different folks. And you can see here our form to get feedback. And based on feedback that we get, we like to formulate the website around that user experience. And so for this buildup that we did, here are five things that we did.
One, make sure that the website was accessible. If you hit accessibility, you can look at this website in multiple language. You can look at accessibility profiles for blind, dyslexic, colorblind, motor impaired. And we also have widgets where you can change the contrast, add bigger text, and more so. First things first, parents want the site to be accessible, easy to use, and mobile friendly.
Second, they want to be able to get all the information they need at a bird's eye view. So if you go to pathways initiative, and this is one of the initiatives that they have, it gives you a thorough overview without being too wordy or, or over informative, right? So essentially they have four pathways. We've delineated these by custom icons, which are hand drawn. And then we have details on each one where you can go to a specific Laney page for that vertical.
Then you see why you would choose that technology pathway, what it talks about and what's included in that whole thing. Then if they want to go ahead and sign up for the school, we have a how to use quick video. And then we have also incorporated a really easy three step process. You visit the page, you click the link, and you're able to browse those schools and sign up for what you like. And then what you can expect from the pathway program.
We wanted this page to be as concise as possible by providing the user, the end users, which is most likely the parent or the student with every, all the info they need to make an informed decision on whether they want to work with the school or apply to this specific institution. If I go back to the home page. Above the fold, you can see the partners, right? We have social proof here where they anchor employer partners in progress.

You can see a little bit more about the range of pathways that are initiatives that are available, what is included in those pathways to success, right? And of course, you can explore those schools with an integrated tool that we've added on the site here as well. And then as a student or parent, you can browse here and be able to click and find out more about that specific vertical.
Now, one thing that we really like to do is especially add a visual aids or illustrations. So we built this custom illustration to showcase how this pathway works in regards to this educational institution. So ninth grade, 10th grade, 11th grade and 12th grade, the specific things you do throughout that walkthrough while you're getting advising. You're going to do in work based learning, you're getting early credits and credentials and essentially what you get at each age level.
So we provided the information organized into a really easy to digest illustration that conveys is simply throughout the website. Of course, this is not an image, this is actually built native in the site. So SEO or the Google search engine can actually scrape all this content and index this page pretty highly in the search. So again, these are just different ways that you can convey these ideas through an educational institution to make sure you're doing all the things that parents really need to make an informed decision if they want their kid to work at that school. Or to go to school there.
