Top Donation Page Design Mistakes to Avoid

What is good y'all? John D. Saunders here, you know the vibes. In today's video, I'm talking about the must-haves for every nonprofit landing page for their donations. I'm gonna talk about the different strategies and things we do to optimize that page, to maximize your donations and start to increase that for your nonprofit.

But let's dive into my computer. I'm gonna show you this process.

All right y'all. So these are mistakes that kill conversions on your website. I do wanna show you an example client. This is one of our clients who did an entire rehash of their website development completely built from the ground up in Webflow. As you can see, there's a ton of value and content on this website. We have tons of collections from manuscripts to library to fine art. And exhibitions and more. So here's some donation page mistakes that kill conversions and how you can do it, right, right?

If you're asking for too much info, it's gonna overwhelm donors. We're gonna keep it very simple, which I'm gonna show you how we implemented that on the site. If you have long multi-step forms that leads to drop offs before completion, and then if you hide, donate buttons, it's gonna be really hard for folks to find what they're looking for. So I'm gonna show you how we did it here. As you can see, you scroll to the website as soon as you get here, the biggest call to action here is support at the top. And then as you scroll through, you'll see more calls to action throughout as well, with donating the footer also.

Now, if I hit this, I can hit support, or in the footer I can scan this QR code to support as well. If I hit support, it's gonna take me straight here and this has all the info I need to make an informed decision right before I scroll right? So, as you can see right here, I have how much they're leading towards their goal, right? So it's optimized for mobile and desktop. There's, an emotional connection and urgency here as well by showcasing image, showing the image credit, and then we make it really easy to do this, right?

So all you have to do is hit your donation amount. You click donate once, and you're able to donate with ease. Donation increments just make it really easy for folks to pick and choose. And then you can do custom here as well. You can also choose the frequency, and this is important. You wanna have the frequency of that donation because you can do one time or monthly where it will do it automatically. Note for the donor scroll. This will be essentially a public note on why you're choosing to give. You always wanna put some type of explainer here to provide that, and then you can honor someone as well.

And then if you honor someone, it'll fill in that information here and then you click donate once and you're checking out, that easy. Two steps and you're done. We also showcase some of the additional supporters. This is powered by Bonterra. We actually integrated this into the site, which is completely built in Webflow. As you can see, you have everything here to go ahead and get it done. So again, a simple, fast, mobile friendly donation page that removes barriers.

We also have recurring gifts. And that's equals to long-term funding stability, right? You can see that here. Trust signals, which are the footer, the header, all the information coming through, navigating here from the main website. You also have the urgency and emotional connection, right, with the image, the title, and the explainer, and then also how much they're looking to raise toward a specific goal, and how many days are left, right? So if there's one day left, zero days left, you know, you have to get it in today as soon as possible to get locked in toward that goal.

Again, if you have any questions, anything you wanna learn more about. Feel free to reach out to me. I'm happy to help. Thank you all for checking out the video. As always, drop a comment if you have any questions, reach out to us if you need help with your nonprofit website, and I will see y'all next week. Peace.
